BEULAH M. HARRIS

Beulah M. Harris, 86, of Newton, formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service was held Monday morning, Feb. 13, at Community Heights Alliance Education Center in Newton. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Memorials may be made in her name.

She was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Clyde and Nora Mae Fullerton Matherly. She was married on Sept. 14, 1937, to Lester E. Harris at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. She was a homemaker and the couple lived in LeGrand, State Center and Marshalltown in addition to Grinnell. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell and a charter member of Indianola Regular Baptist Church in Indianola. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting.

She is survived by five sons, Raymond Harris of New Virginia, Charles Harris of Newton, Robert Harris of Chicamauga, Ga., Ron Harris of Osceola and Stephen Harris of Grinnell; two daughters, Perry Ann Hinshaw of Abilene, Texas, and Agnes Stadnick of Marshalltown; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and two geat great grandchidlren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
