RUTH GOULD

Ruth Gould, 89, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at St. Francis Manor.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Stewart officiating. Organist will be Denise Baustian, pianist will be Amanda Freeborn and vocal music will be by Justin Freeborn. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Phillip and Bradley Tharp, Mickey, Roger and Robbie Freeborn, Jon Thomson, Angela Nott, Robin Paulson and Shelly Yates. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.

The daughter of Walter Ray and Angie Eva Foster Clindinin, she was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Jasper County near Grinnell. She was raised in the Oak Grove area and was a 1933 graduate of Grinnell High School. She was married on June 26,1937, in Marshalltown to James Berkley Gould. The couple farmed near Ewart prior to moving to Grinnell in 1946. She worked at several restaurants as a cook and later was employed for over 25 years at Maytag as an inspector at Plant #2, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Grinnell Eagles Auxiliary and had attended First Baptist Church for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Kay Tharp, Judy Freeborn and Karen Thomson, all of Grinnell; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one sister Mabel Madill of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son James Gould; one brother, Harry Clindinin and one sister, Helen Clindinin, in infancy.
