JAMES GOULD

W. James "Jim" Gould, 51, of 117 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died of cancer Tuesday, March 10, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Cliff Bevins, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist will be James Severe, and vocalist will be Milton Severe.

Pallbearers will be Dave Crook, Larry Ellis, Roger Fokerds, Jim Collum, Jim Schmidt and John Schmidt. Honorary bearers will be Paul Bullers, Tom Lowry, Jim McKenna, Kenneth Paul, Dean Rafferty and Kenneth Saunders.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Gould's name may be made to the Poweshiek County Home Health Service.

The son of J. Berkley and E. Ruth Clindinin Gould, he was born March 13, 1940, in Grinnell. He was a 1958 graduate of Grinnell High School.

He was married to Kay Meldrem April 4, 1961, in Grinnell. The couple live in Grinnell where he worked for Saunders' D-X, Anderson-Erickson Dairy and Grinnell Beveage Co. He worked for the Maytag Company for 17 years, retiring in 1990 due to poor health.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 997 of Newton and the Eagles Lodge of Grinnell.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Robin Paulson of Grinnell and Shelly Yates of Des Moines; his mother; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Kay Tharp, Judy Freeborn and Karen Thomson, all of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his father.
