CONDUCT FUNERAL RITES TODAY FOR PAUL ESLER, 57

The body of Paul Esler, 57, of Rte. 1, Grinnell, was found late Tuesday morning at his farm home just south of Grinnell. Local authorities said he had taken his life.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Willard, pastor of the Brooklyn Methodist church, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Ernest Badger, Carl Benson, Virgil Jones, Burton Koger, Darwin Renbarger, and Ralph Spooner. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

He was the son of Paul and Margaret Mary Barr Esler and was born on Oct. 17th, 1905, south of Grinnell. He attended the local public schools.

On Oct. 25th, 1936, he was married to Mabel Marie Clindinin near Albia. To this union two children were born: Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Ritter of Eldora and Kenneth Paul Esler, a student at State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Esler had spent his entire life in the Grinnell area and was engaged in farming.

Survivors include his mother, his wife, two children, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ross and William Esler of Grinnell; and three sisters, Mrs. Harry Bacon, Mrs. Rollo Whitaker, and Mrs. Mary McDowell, all of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1920 and two sisters.
