HARRY CLINDININ MEETS DEATH ON BATTLE FRONT
Grinnell Boy Is Killed in Action In France

The Red Cross was charged with the sad duty Wednesday of notifying Walter Clindinin that his son Harry had been killed in action in France while fighting in the army. The news was conveyed to Mr. Clindinin at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Esler, one mile south of town on No. 146, where he has been making his home.

Harry is well remembered by many friends in this vicinity. He was born and grew up in Grinnell and went to school here, but did not finish high school. Before entering the service over two years ago he had worked on farms in this vicinity. He is remembered as a likeable young man, reliable and competent.

He was a nephew of F.F. Clindinin and Russ Clindinin of this city and is survived by his father and two sisters.

Harry was 26 years old, having been born March 28, 1918. He entered the army in March of 1942 and spent two years in Camp Wolters in Texas and in California. He was also stationed for a time in Virginia and embarked for England from Fort Dix, N.J., landing last May.

His mother died three years ago last fall. His surviving sister in addition to Mrs. Esler is Mrs. Berkley Gould, who lives on a farm near Ewart.
