Robert Orr was born in County Fermano, Ireland, in the year 1847, and departed this life at ten minutes to five o'clock on the afternoon of Aug. 26, 1921, at the age of 74 years.

Mr. Orr came to Pittsburg, Pa., when a boy of 17 years and it was here he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Jane Beaty. Later he moved to Iowa and settled on a farm four miles south of Brooklyn. Later he moved into Brooklyn and engaged in the retail implement business which was known as the firm of Sharrar & Orr. Later he moved to Des Moines where he was engaged in the retail grocery business, conducting the same for two years. He then moved back to Brooklyn where he engaged in the implement business and owned one of the largest of its kind in the county.

Mr. Orr became a member of the Methodist church at the Fremont appointment on the Malcom charge during the ministry of Matt Hughes. Later his membership was changed to the M.E. church of Brooklyn.

Those left to mourn his loss are the wife, two daughters; Mrs. Jennie Harrah of LaJara, Colorado, and Mrs. Mabel Lippincott of Brooklyn; one son, Fleming Orr of Brooklyn, three sisters; Mrs. Margaret Currie and Miss Essie Orr of New York, and Mrs. J.J. Sloan of Brooklyn.

Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church in Brooklyn, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. John W. Pool. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Beaty and William Sloan of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Len Forney and children of Newton. Owing to sickness in the Harrah family, Mrs. Jennie Harrah was unable to attend the funeral.
