Jane Elizabeth Pershing was born in Pennsylvania Nov. 2, 1841, and died at the Western old people's home Dec. 10, 1933, age 91 years, 1 month and 8 days.

She was left an orphan at the age of 9 years and removed to Iowa with the family of her sister at the age of 14 years. She attended school and finished her education at Grinnell college and was a pioneer schoolteacher in Poweshiek county many years. She was married to John Connor in 1869. They were the parents of four children, two sons dying in early manhood. She is survived by one son, William, of Hampton, and Mrs. Mayo Graham of Cedar Falls, Ia. She entered the home in 1924.

Funeral services were conducted at the chapel by Rev. Faust and Rev. Lang. Interment was in Fairview cemetery at Cedar Falls.
