Francis Glen Brignon

SEARSBORO - Funeral services for Francis Glen Brignon, 93, a longtime resident of the Searsboro community, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Marvin Miller, pastor of the Lynnville Friends Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville.

The Family will receive friends at the Lynnville Friends Church after services at the cemetery.

Mr. Brignon died Tuesday at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Survivors are two sisters, Mamie Watson of Grinnell and Alice Myers of Des Moines.

Mr. Brignon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Frieda, three brothers, Rollo, Roscoe and Ernest, and two sisters, Marie Main and Ruth Sartwell.

The son of Frank O. and Lice "Awlie" Tahash Brignon, he was born Sept. 24, 1900 on his grandfather's farm northeast of Searsboro.

He attended rural schools near his home.

He was married to Frieda Meredith Thanksgiving Day, 1927, in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Brignon, a resident of St. Francis Manor in Grinnell since Aug. 30, 1993, farmed in Poweshiek County near Searsboro most of his life. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993.
