Grinnell Councilman Carl Wittrup Dies

Grinnell, Ia. - Grinnell City Councilman Carl D. Witturp, 60, died of a heart attack Thursday at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grinnell Christian Church, of which he was a member, with burial at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Mr. Wittrup was born in Searsboro and had lived in Grinnell most of his life. He was a salesman for Commnet Cellular Telephone Corp. and was a member of Grinnell Chamber of Commerce and Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; a son, David of Iowa City; three daughters, Carla Sayklay and Debra Scates, both of Dallas, Texas, and Lisa Smith of Cheyenne, Who.; his mother, Alice Wittrup of Ely, Minn.; two brothers, Dean and Ron, both of Ely; three sisters, Laura Witturp and Mildred Potter, both of Ely, and Grace Stephenson of Montezuma.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1995
