Jonathan STRONG, 80, prominent Montezuma citizen, passed away at his home Thursday of last week. Many friends were saddened by the news of the death of another beloved and always genial personality.

Funeral services were said at two-thirty P.M. Easter Sunday March 25, at the Christian church with the Rev. Donavan G. Hart officiating.

The selected music "Going Down the Valley" and "Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung by Mrs. Vincent Johnson and William Rempp with Mrs. Esther Moore serving as accompanist.

Interment was in the Jackson Township cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers: Cecil Hasty, Ed Vail, Jim McKay, Claude Grubb, Cecil Brower and Ralph Hatcher.

Jonathan Rolland Strong, son of Robert and Mary Strong, was born in Uniontown, Pa., Jan. 14, 1871. His birth occurred in a log house. He passed this mortal life, March 22, 1951 at Montezuma, Iowa, aged 80 years, 2 months and 18 days.

His father, Robert Strong, was a regular member of the United States Army.

He was united in marriage to Christina FERNEAU at Oskaloosa, Sept. 20, 1893. To this union six children were born: Mrs. Howard STABLER of LaCrosse, Wis.; twin daughters, Mrs. Warren WATTS of Montezuma; Mrs. Eldon BRADEN of Barnes City; Lloyd STRONG of Newton; Dwight STRONG of Rose Hill; and Lee Strong of Deep River. He is survived by 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He has been a lifelong member of the Indianapolis, Iowa Christian Church and has been a resident of Montezuma since 1934.

He will be remembered as a wonderful father and provider, living a rich and talented life. He believed in the commandments of a loving God and his fellow man to the utmost of his noble ability.
