M. Amber Truman, 94, of Grinnell died of a respiratory ailment Tuesday at St. Francis Manor Nursing Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grinnell Christian Church, with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Truman, a homemaker, was born in Belle Plaine and moved to Grinnell from Canada in 1979. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries.

Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Thompson, and a son Lyle, both of Grinnell; a sister, Mina Huston of Dragoon, Ariz.; a brother, Harold Achenbach of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children Hospitals. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1995
