The Montezuma Republican, June 28, 1945. Evan MORRISON was buried Wednesday. Funeral services for Evan George MORRISON were said Wednesday afternoon, June 20, from the Presbyterian Church in Deep River. Burial was in the Golden Rod Cemetery at Deep River, with military services in charge of the Donald E. Blakley Post of Montezuma. Obituary: Evan George MORRISON, son of George and Margaret MORRISON, was born in Deep River August 27, 1900, and passed away Saturday, June 16, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, at the age of 44 years, 9 months and twenty days. He grew to manhood in and around Deep River. On December 7, 1921, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Arvidson of Montezuma. To this union two sons were born, LT Stanley T. MORRISON of the Air Corps stationed at San Marcos, Tex., and PVT Dallas D. MORRISON in officer's mess regiment somewhere in Germany. He also leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Mrs. Margaret MORRISON; 3 sisters, Mabel and Maxine MORRISON, and Mrs. Erma GRAHAM of Cedar Rapids; 3 brothers, Ross and Russell of Cedar Rapids and Merl of Davenport; besides several nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. His father passed away in April, 1934. Evan entered the service of his country in November, 1943, and was given an honorable discharge the following year. Since that time he had been employed by the LaPlante Choate Co., at Cedar Rapids. Evan's happy disposition made him friends everywhere he went who will long remember his many kindnesses and generosities.
