Feb. 16, 1950JAMES LOWE OF
MONTEZUMA ENDS
LIFE WITH SHOTGUNJames Lowe, Montezuma rural carrier, committed suicide Monday afternoon about 2 o'clock by shooting himself through the right temple with a 20-gauge shotgun. He was alone in the house at the time. Mrs. Lowe, who found the body, was away from home and it is believed that the fatal shot was fired just as she drove up in front of the house. Lowe left a note for his wife and family. He was a patient in the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines about a year ago and since then is said to have been despondent. Coroner W.B. Phillips viewed the body and pronounced death self inflicted. No inquest will be held.
There are two sons, Duane and Norval, both of whom are members of the winning Montezuma high school basketball team.
