RALPH NUTT MEETS
HEAVY FIRE LOSS;
HOME IS DESTROYED

Ralph Nutt sustained a heavy loss by fire last Thursday evening when his residence on Eight Avenue just east of Summer street and across from the Jake Rivers place was practically destroyed by the flames. On that evening Mr. and Mrs. Nutt were both away at lodge on one of their infrequent absences from home. The fire evidently started in the basement; worked up through the building and was not discovered until it was breaking through the roof. Then an alarm was turned in. The fire department responded quickly and did all that could be done but the flames had such a start that great damage had been done both by fire and water before the blaze could be subdued. And even then it was not quite subdued, for at midnight the alarm started again and the sleepy department rushed again to the scene and subdued a little blaze which had hidden itself away somewhere and crept out when nobody was looking.

Mr. Nutt bought this house last spring, moved it to its present location, remodeled it and made it over into a most attractive home. All who know him will regret that he was forced to lose it in such a manner. Fortunately his loss both on house and furniture is at least partially covered by insurance.
