BOYS DO SOME MISCHIEF AT THE RAVEN

Closed Restaurant Scene of Childish Tricks On Sunday

Two of four or five boys, seven and eight years old, who broke into the Raven restaurant Sunday and raised "particular H---," have been apprehended, it was stated this morning by Police Chief Glenn Bell.

When Blaine Carey, proprietor of the restaurant, which has been closed for a few weeks, unlocked the front dooor and walked in Sunday afternoon at about 2:30 o'clock, he found the place in a "mess." Sugar bowls had been overturned and catsup poured over the sugar, paper napkins were scattered about, food was dumped on the floor, a show case was cracked and the juke box had been broken into. Fortunately, no money was missing and none of the mirrors or furniture were smashed. However, it is requiring a lot of work to clean up.

Recalling the recent incident at Richardson and Phelps lumber yard, police made a check of all of the Grinnell lumber yards and at Talbott and Olds they found the boys had paid a visit and done some damage, including pouring a bottle of ink on the office floor.

Chief Bell said the boys, playing in the alley Sunday, found they could open the trap door leading into the bowling alley under the Raven. They stopped at the bowling alley long enough to dump some debris on the alleys and then did their mischief upstairs.
