Montezuma Democrat; Jan. 9, 1900

The home of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Carter in Scott township was the scene of a pretty wedding on the first day of January, nineteen hundred, the contracting parties being Mr. H.E. Carter and Christine M. Smith of Hartwick. The ceremony that united the lives and fortunes of these young people was performed by Rev. A.V.Kendrick, in the presence of a number of guests, near friends of the bride and groom, after which the congratulations and well wishes of the company were heartily extended to the happy couple. The guests were then invited to the dining room where an elaborate wedding repast was served and enjoyed. The bride and groom are well known in Scott township and have, by their up right lives, won a host of friends who extend best wishes for a long, happy and prosperous voyage upon the matrimonial sea. They received many beautiful and useful presents, tokens of esteem from their admiring friends.
