SHERIFFS GATHER TO LOOK UP HORSE-THIEF EVIDENCE
The sheriffs of Muscatine, Mahaska, Iowa and Marshall counties were in Grinnell Sunday looking up evidence against John Porter, suspected of being an accomplice of Thomas Dickerson now serving a five-year sentence in the state penitentiary for horse thieving. Porter was seen coming out of the barn rented by Dickerson and is thought to be the man who drove the teams that were stolen by the thieves. Porter went from Grinnell to Marshalltown changing his name to E.C. Johnson. He later went to Hampton and was arrested there and taken to Oskaloosa where he is now in jail.
