The Grinnell Herald (Grinnell, Iowa) Aug. 24, 1920

Twenty-six years ago while picking corn on a farm west of town W. P. Tish lost a watch and diligent search failed to reveal its whereabouts and it was given up as lost. This spring Ed Patty was walking over that same field and in kicking over some dirt saw a discolored object laying on the ground. Investigation showed that it was a watch and examination revealed it to be in fairly good condition after its long rest on the ground. Mr. Tish identified it as the one he had lost so many years ago. C.C. Swangel took the watch, oiled it up and repaired a bearing or two and the watch is now running good as ever. The case had proved an efficient protector for the delicate works.--Palladium
