Cattle Are Run Down And Killed By Rock Island Train

CATTLE ARE RUN DOWN AND KILLED BY ROCK ISLAND TRAIN

Montezuma Republican: Last Wednesday afternoon the east-bound Rock Island passenger killed six head of cattle belonging to David McKeag on the track three miles below Montezuma.

Mr. McKeag was driving several head along the highway. They came to the crossing at a time when the passenger was approaching. Six of the animals broke through the cattle-guards, which were filled with ice and snow and ran down the track. They were overtaken and killed. One of the animals, it is reported, was carried on the engine for quite a distance before the train was stopped.
