JACOB WISECARVER STRUCK BY TRAIN

Aged Man is Knocked Down and Painfully Injured by a M. & St. L. Freight.

ACCIDENT JUST IN THE REAR OF HIS HOME

Three Ribs are Broken, His Head is Cut and Shoulder and One Leg Are Bruised.

Returning from a hurried excursion across the track to the rescue of his dog, which had been attacked by other canines, Jacob Wisecarver was struck by a northbound M. & St. L. freight at 5:30 o'clock last evening and sustained injuries which though painful, are not serious. Three ribs are broken, he has a cut over his right temple and another under the chin and his shoulder and one leg are very painfully bruised.

Mr. Wisecarver hurried across the track as the heavy train was pulling up the grade. Engrossed with the dogs, he paid no attention, and thinking the train had passed started back across the track, when he found the engine was right upon him and did not have time to get out of the way. Fortunately the train was running slowly; otherwise the result would have been more serious.

The accident took place just back of Mr. Wisecarver's home at the corner of Sixth Avenue and High street. The Wisecarver lot abuts on the M. & St. L. right of way.
