DOROTHY AND CHARLES PIERCE

Dorothy and Charles Pierce of Avondale, Ariz., formerly of Grinnell, whose 50th wedding anniversary occurred Sept. 28, 2002, were honored at an early observance in March in the home of their daughter, in Peoria, Ariz.

Family members, relatives and friends shared a dinner and program followed by anniversary cake and champagne.

Mr. Pierce and the former Dorothy Brand, who were married Sept. 28, 1952, in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Kingsley, were the first couple to be married in the new church. Both now are retired; they have lived in Arizona 20 years.

They have seven children and six grandchildren. Their children are Marcia Jackson, Peoria, Ariz., Sheri Wilkins, Prosser, Wash.; Steven Pierce, Sutherland, Oregon; Rodney Pierce, Redmond, Wash.; Jon Pierce, Sacramento, Calif.; Curtis Pierce, Avondale, Ariz., and Jody Rothermel, Arlington, Ariz.
