GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY OBSERVED BY GRINNELL COUPLE

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Matherly of Grinnell celebrated their Fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday, April 29, in their home. Fifty-four relatives and friends signed the guest book at the open house during the afternoon hours.

The couple was married April 25, 1912, at Exline, Iowa, by the Rev. Harry W. Cannon, pastor of the Methodist church. Mrs. Matherly is the former Nora Mae Fullerton of Mendota, Mo.

Mr. and Mrs. Matherly are the parents of four children, Glen of Marion, Ohio, Bernard and Delmar of Grinnell, and Mrs. Lester (Beulah) Harris of Indianola. Their grandchildren number thirteen and they have six great-grandchildren.

The lace covered serving table was underlaid with yellow, featuring yellow streamers, yellow candles and yellow roses in crystal bowls at each end of the table. Two anniversary cakes, also graced the table. One was decorated with white flowers and bells trimmed in gold, and the other with yellow roses and white bells with yellow trimming, resting on a gold lace netting.

The guest table was also decorated in yellow, with a floral center piece of yellow, a gift of the couple's neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. George Hans.

Donna Kay Matherly was in charge of the guest book, and Faye Heinle presided at the gift table. At the punch bowl and coffee service were Mrs. David Mitchell and Mrs. Fred Heinle, assisted by relatives.

Friends and relatives were present from Cedar Rapids, Clinton, Brooklyn, Des Moines, Indianola, Grinnell, also Marion, Ohio and Dixon, Ill.

Relatives not able to attend were Mrs. Joe Pierce of Peebles, Wis., a sister of Mrs. Matherly, and one son, Delmar of Grinnell.
