John McCain's Father

GOP Presidential nominee John McCain comes from a long line of Naval officers. Biographical information shows that his father was born in Council Bluffs on 1/17/1911. I'm curious if there are any genealogical records showing where the McCains lived in CB and what they were doing in CB in 1911. It makes one wonder what brought them to CB.
