Major F. R. Stein, an old citizen of Council Bluffs, died at his residence on Vine Street, at 3 o’clock yesterday morning. The Major received a fall on New Year’s Day, from the effects of which he never recovered. At the time of his death he was in the 71st year of his age. The deceased came to Council Bluffs in 1850, and has resided here ever since. At one time he was quite well off, but at the time of his death, we believe, almost destitute. He leaves a wife to mourn his death. The funeral services will be conducted at the family residence on Vine Street, this afternoon at 4 o’clock, to which friends and acquaintances are invited without further notice.
