Maggie Wright was born March 30, 1847, in Nelson County, Kentucky, and departed this life at her home near Oakland, Ia, August 9, 1903, aged 56 years, 4 months and 9 days. She removed with her parents to Henderson County, Illinois, in 1848. She was united in marriage with Wm. Pershin in December 1866. To them were born two children, Louella May (Mrs. C. F. Robinson) and John Franklin, deceased. She was left a widow in 1871. She united with the church in early girlhood, and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life to the end. She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, five sisters and three brothers. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug 11, conducted by Rev. M. G. Rambo, and the remains were laid to rest in Oaklawn. Mrs. Pershin was a woman of a firm Christian faith. She loved her Bible and the services of the church. She had a kindly, sympathetic nature that caused her to be warmly loved by those with whom she came in contact. Realizing that the time of her departure was near she had diligently set her house in order for the coming of death. She made directions for her funeral some weeks prior to her demise, selecting the hymns to be sung, the lesson to be read and the text to be used. She gave a bright testimony to the friends who came about her dying bed, and declared that she was ready for the great change.
