Obituary
Amanda Blythe was born May 16, 1828, in Bracken County, Kentucky; died August 11, 1903, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Van Gorrel, ten miles west of Oakland. In the year 1850 she was married to Mr. Thornton Hamilton, to whom six children were born, five of whom survive her as fellows: O. P. Hamilton, Mrs. A. A. VanGorrel, Wm. Hamilton, Albion Hamilton and Mrs. Maggie Boatman. She was married the second time in the 1863 to Mr. Wm. Adams, and as a result of this union, three children were born, all of whom still survive her. They are Ula Adams, Thornton Adams, and Mrs. C. M. Peterson. Mr. Adams preceeded her to the other side six years ago, having died in 1897.
Mrs. Adams united with the Christina church about sixty years ago, and has been a faithful and consistent Christian ever since. She was always a true and devoted mother and although reaching a mature old age, her children could scarcely be reconciled to giving her up. Never was a mother more lamented by her children. The funeral was conducted in Fairview church by Rev. W. E. Kunzland, the remains laid to rest in Fairview cemetery. Another good mother gone to her reward.
