Obituary of Robert V. Mingus is Told

Robert Vern Mingus, son of John and Julia Mingus, was born in Dodge Township, Guthrie County (Iowa), on November 12, 1898, and passed away at the Iowa Methodist Hospital, in Des Moines, on March 31, 1955, at the age of 56 years, four months and 19 days.

Mr. Mingus graduated from the Guthrie county high school at Panora in 1917. He served in the Air Corps during World War I. He was engaged in numerous enterprises in Bagley for a number of years.

Then he entered the Railway Mail Service, from which he retired on account of disability on November 1, 1954.

In 1918, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Crippen and to this union two children were born - a daughter and a son. In 1941, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Pauline Cain.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, Cobia Masonic Lodge at Council Bluffs and the American Legion at Omaha, Nebraska.

Preceding him in death was his father, John Mingus, in 1937. The survivors are his wife, Pauline; his mother, Julia Mingus of Des Moines; a son, Robert J. Mingus of Council Bluffs and a daughter, Mrs. Betty Shea of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Miss Laura Mingus of Des Moines; two brothers, Thomas of Chadron Nebraska and Joe of Des Moines; a stepson, Jack Cain of Bagley and a stepdaughter; Mrs. Gwen Molle of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Gayla, Laura and Jim Mingus, and other relatives and many friends.
