Robert James Mingus
(March 24, 1925 - July 9, 1998)

Spencer - Funeral for Robert James Mingus, 73, of Gillett Grove will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Warner Funeral Home Chapel in Spencer with the Rev. David Doraisingh officiating.

Mr. Mingus died July 9 at at Spencer Hospital.

He grew up in Bagley and later graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. (1942)

He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a farmer and worked 30 years for the US Postal Service, where he served as postmaster for 12 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willa (Jimison) in 1977 and by his second wife, Dorothy, in 1989.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Gayla) Johnson of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Jeff (Joanne) Murray of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Laura Huffman of Oceana, California; a son Jim, of Spencer, Iowa; a sister; Betty Shea, of Downers Grove, Illinois; special friend, Opal Rheam of Dickens; 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Buried will be in Logan Township Cemetery in Gillett Grove.
