Genevieve M. Johnson

Genevieve Marie Johnson 77, 2410 North Broadway, died Thursday (December 21, 1989) at Indian Hills Nursing Center. Born in Omaha, (May 25, 1912), she lived in Council Bluffs since 1942.

Mrs. Johnson received a degree in teaching from the College of St. Mary at Creighton University in 1932 and taught in South Omaha until her marriage and managed the Johnson Dance Studio, attending many national dance conventions.

She served as Girl Scout leader for many years and was a member and former president of Kane Karosel Extension Club. She bowled in the Farm Bureau mixed and rural leagues and was a member of the St. Patricks Alter Society.

Mrs. Johnson celebrated her 55th wedding anniversary in September with her husband, J. Clifford.

Survivors besides her husband include two daughters, Joyce Talty of Council Bluffs and Janice Tiarks of Harlan; son, James C. Johnson of Council Bluffs; a sister, Charlotte Moore of Westlake Village, California; a brother, Charles Mitchell of Livermore, California; fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (December 26, 1989) at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; Mgr Gerald Deere will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Cutler Funeral Home chapel. Visitation follows at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Meals on Wheels Program or St. Patrick's Church.
