James D. McDermott

James D. McDermott, age 62 years, Council Bluffs, passed away February 1, 2014, at his residence.

Jim was born July 23, 1951, in Council Bluffs, to Donald J. and Alma M. (Dahl) McDermott and graduated from St. Albert High School in 1969. He was united in marriage to Myrna Thompson on August 27, 1977. Jim worked as a truck driver for Wichita Sheet Metal and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus #11296, and a member of St. Patrick's Church.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Alma; brothers, Lyle and Jed McDermott.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Myrna, of Council Bluffs; son, Adam and his wife, Michaela, of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Katie McDermott, of Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter, Claire; sisters, Pat Fischer and husband, Dean, Bonnie Turner; brother, Dan McDermott and wife, Carolyn, all of Neola; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Christian Wake Service starting at 7 p.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 10:30 a.m., St. Patrick's Church in Council Bluffs.

Luncheon will follow the service in the parish hall. Cortege for St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola will leave after the luncheon. Family will direct memorials.
