James W. Barrier

James W. Barrier, age 82, Council Bluffs, passed away December 29, 2013.

James was born November 15, 1931, in Neola, Iowa, to Max M. and Edna C. (Morgan) Barrier and graduated from Neola High School in 1950. James served in the Iowa National Guard and worked as a Scale Technician for Fairbanks Scale Company for 20 years retiring in 1983 and later for Allied Communications.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn J. in 1998; sisters, Maxine at infancy, and Helen Lewis; brothers, Jack and Wendell Barrier.

James is survived by his 7 children, Steve (Penny) Barrier, of Underwood, Iowa, Jim, Joseph, Rodney and Mark Barrier; daughters, Teresa Barrier, all of Council Bluffs, Pamela (Shawn) Shea, of Crescent, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Connie) Barrier, of Neola, Iowa; sister-in-law, Korlys Talty; and brother-in-law, John "Buzz" Lewis, all of Neola; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family Saturday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel.

Interment at a later date in Neola Township Cemetery. Memorials to the Neola Presbyterian Church.
