Thelma M. Christiansen, age 94, of Neola, Iowa, passed away November 23, 2011, at her home.

Thelma was born April 13, 1917, in Neola, to the late Fred and Caroline (Masker) Wellman. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1935. Thelma married Arthur Christiansen on June 1, 1938. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola, Altar and Rosary Society and Neola American Legion Auxiliary.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1998; sons, Dennis, Robert and Ronald; sister, Theonita Nelson; brothers, Fritz, Max, Phillip and Leonard Wellman.

She is survived by daughters, Betty Jean (Wayne) Honz, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Bonnie Boughton, of Omaha, Neb.; sons, Bill Christiansen, of Terry, Mississippi, Larry Christiansen, of Neola, Phillip (Nellie) Christiansen, of Terry, Miss.; 22 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sister, Rita (Don) Honz, of Omaha; daughters-in-law, Paula Christiansen, of Ames, Iowa, and Betty Jane Christiansen, of Harrisonville, Mo.; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the Family Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, 10:30 a.m., St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Neola with Rev. Raphael Masabakhwa, pastor as the celebrant.

Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola with a lunch following at the parish hall. Memorials to the donor's choice preferred.
