SALIX, Iowa -- David F. Heilman, 48, of Neola, Iowa, formerly of Salix, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola. Arrangements are under the direction of Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Omaha, Neb.

David Heilman was born May 26, 1962, the son of Francis and Pauline Heilman. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City in 1981. He attended Creighton University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989.

During his career, he was a research technician in a number of laboratories, most recently the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila; three children, Rebecca Heilman, Tamara Heilman and Isaac Heilman; his parents, Francis and Pauline; six sisters, Mary Rutherford, Helen Robley, Marcia Snow, Kate Speck, Barbara Parker and Lou Cortner; three brothers, Tim Heilman, Roger Heilman and Stephen Heilman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Heilman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
