Gene Albert Manz, 75, of Council Bluffs died June 2 at home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Shelby to Walter and Elizabeth Jensen Manz. He attended Shelby Community School. He served in the United States Marine Corp., serving in World War II. He worked at Broadway Cleaners for 20 years and then
shared services until he retired in 1991. He was a member of Holy Family Church.

Mr. Manz and his wife, Margaret (Reisz), were married 52 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois Cozad and grandson Benjamin J. Manz.

Survivors in addition to his wife include four daughters, Debra Janecek and husband, Rick, Kathleen Sealock and husband, Jim, Sheryl Husz and husband, Del, and Cynthia Kaufman and husband, Steve, all of Council Bluffs; five sons, Stephen and wife, Sharon, and Christopher and wife, Linda, all of Council Bluffs, Ronald and wife, Victoria, of Crescent, Peter and wife Jane, of Longwood, Fla., Michael and wife, Kristi, of Arvad, Colo.; two brothers, Jack of Atlantic, Lee and wife, Neva, of Avoca; sister, Laurine Zastrow, of Cumberland, Md; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Wake service will be Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Ken Gross officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 2, with a luncheon to follow at Holy Family.

Memorials may be offered to Alegent Hospice and Holy Family Church.
