Lloyd Eric Hansen, 71, of Council Bluffs died June 4 at Plattsmouth Manor-Beverly Health Care, in Plattsmouth, Neb.

He was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Logan to Bernard Pickard Hansen and Leta Mamie Crabb. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1949, attended Graceland College, then entered the U.S. Army. He served during Korean War,
stationed in Japan, 1953-55.

He married, returned to Iowa, worked for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and attended Iowa State University in Ames. After college, he worked for 16th Army Corps of Engineers, then returned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, retiring in 1986. He lived a major part of his life in Council Bluffs, but because of failing health, he resided at the Plattsmouth
Manor-Beverly Health Care in Plattsmouth. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, formerly RLDS Church of Council Bluffs.

Mr. Hansen and his wife, Polly Yuuki (Karasawa), were married April 14, 1954, in Yokohama, Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Eric Hansen, of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters and son-in-law, Karen Hansen of Council Bluffs, and Sharon and Curtis Dall of Council Bluffs; two grandchildren, Erin and Colin Dall of Council Bluffs; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ardis and John Bolgar of Omaha, Audrey and Everett Nielsen of Woodbine and Zola and Charles Angeroth Jr. of Crescent; numerous nieces and nephews.

The body was cremated. Burial of ashes will be in Harris Grove Cemetery in Logan. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be offered to Family
Life Center of The Community of Christ Church in Council Bluffs.
