Funeral Mass for Elizabeth A. "Betty" Costello, 78, of Council Bluffs will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Worship Center with the Rev. Chuck Kottas officiating. A luncheon will follow at St. Peter's Social Hall.

She died May 19 at USA Healthcare of Urbandale.

She was born May 29, 1924, in Grand Island, Neb., to Walter J. and Amanda (Held) Costello. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1934. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Francis High School. She was a rate clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years, retiring in June 1984. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, St. Ann's Altar & Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Anthony's Court; Omaha Walking Club; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; National Association of Railway Business Women; Henry Doorly Zoo Docent Emeritus.

Survivors include three nieces, Kathy Lydon of Urbandale, Ann Rumer and Mary Beth Sinnott, both of Des Moines; three nephews, Jim Sinnott of Coquille, Ore., Bob Sinnott of Grimes and Tom Sinnott of Maumelle, Ark.; three cousins, seven grandnieces and three grandnephews.

Catholic Daughter's Rosary will be Thursday at 4 p.m. with a wake service at 7 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Burial will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Grand Island Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Henry Doorly Zoo, Council Bluffs Public Library or St. Peter's Church.
