Kathleen Gallagher Walsh
(September 15, 1927 - May 17, 2003)

Kathleen Gallagher-Walsh, 75, of Council Bluffs died May 17 after being hospitalized for six months in Omaha.

She worked at Mercy Hospital as a patient area specialist and later served as a tour guide at the Historic General Dodge House. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Parish. She is most remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother of 17 children, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In 1990 Kathleen was widowed from her husband of 44 years, Donald Eugene Gallagher, and later married her current husband, Thomas Walsh, 84, who resides in Little Flower Haven Nursing Home in Earling.

Mrs. Gallagher-Walsh was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Eugene Gallagher, age 64, their 25-year-old son Patrick, and their 12 other infant children: twins Daniel Lee and Candace Kay, and sons Frances Angel, Donald Eugene Jr., Joseph Joel, John Jorden, Luke Jeremiah, Kelly R., Shawn Anthony, Matthew Peter, Mark Adam and Kenneth George.

Survivors include four adult children and their spouses: Rev. Chet Gallagher and wife, JoAnn, of San Jose, Calif., Christine Wilson and husband, Roger, Timothy Gallagher and wife, Glenna, and Thomas Gallagher and wife, Violet, all of Council Bluffs; five siblings and their spouses: James Van Scoy and wife, Mary, of Council Bluffs; Patricia Bates and husband, George, of Ottertail, Minn.; Marianne Knotek and husband, Larry, of Council Bluffs; Deacon Donnie Van Scoy and wife, Margie, of Irving, Texas; Dennis Van Scoy and wife, Debbie, of Red Oak.

A wake will be held Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church located at 3304 Fourth Ave. The wake will begin at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at the church starting at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gallagher-Walsh has been active in Pro-Life ministry for many years and the family requests that any memorials be sent in her honor to "Nebraskans United for Life," 9001 Arbor Street, Suite 104, Omaha, NE 68124.
