Leonard R. Raus

Leonard R. Raus, age 74, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 5, 2010, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

He was born July 23, 1935, in Omaha, to the late Joseph and Lydia (Rejda) Raus. He married Delores Ernst on March 27, 1954, in Glenwood, Iowa. They were blessed with 4 children, Cindy, Lenny, Jr., Teresa and Greg. Leonard retired from Chicago Northwest Railroad in 1993 as a carman after a 39 year railroad career. He was a member of the Lighthouse Temple of the Open Bible, YMCA and AARP. Leonard was an income tax volunteer, blood donor, avid golfer and fisherman.

Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Greg Raus in 2007; and brother, Rey Raus, in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores Raus; daughters, Cindy Larison, both of Council Bluffs, Teresa Raus, of Neola, Iowa; son, Lenny Raus, Jr., of Council Bluffs; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sister, JoAnne Barber and husband, Bernie, of Magnolia, Iowa; 2 cats, Lucy and Corky.

Visitation Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., at Lighthouse Temple of the Open Bible, 1430 Ave. E. Rev Don Bates, Pastor will officiate. A lunch will immediately follow at the church. Memorials to Lighthouse Temple Church preferred. The body has been cremated; no viewing.
