Michael Matthews

Michael "Mick" "Pickles" Matthews, 62, of Neola died April 16 after a year-long battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and brother, Ronnie.

He is survived by his wife, Saundra; son, Ethan and wife, Sue; daughter, Melissa Way and husband, Matt; mother, Arlene; brothers, Jody, Gary and wife, Eileen; two grandchildren, Whitney and Zachary, all of Neola; sisters, Monette Bird and husband, Bunk, of Gresham, Ore., Annette Stark and husband, Roger, of Persia, Jayne Matthews of McClelland, Jenelle Boxberger and husband, Randy, of Portland, Ore.; other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Neola. Burial will be in Neola Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to American Cancer Society or Neola Fire Department.
