William J. Visser

Memorial service for William J. Visser, 80, of Council Bluffs will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Rich De Vries of Prairie Lane Christian Reformed Church officiating.

Mr. Visser died April 11 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Burdette, Alberta, Canada, to Jacob and Willemina (Woniuk) Visser. He previously lived in Portland, Mich., and most of his life in Council Bluffs. He graduated from Portland, Mich., High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a carpenter for Peter Kiewit and Hawkins Construction companies before retiring in 1984. He also worked at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Doris (Rogers); daughters, Diane Davis and husband, Bob, of Omaha, Jo Gall and husband, Wally, of Shreveport, La., and Betsy Moeschler of Littleton, Colo.; son, William Roger Visser, now known as Ian Justin, of Council Bluffs; three sisters, Jenny Hazlewood of Ripon, Calif., Rieka Raglin and Johanna Pung, both of Chula Vista, Calif.; two brothers, John Visser of Sunfield, Mont., and Jake Visser and wife, Marlene, of Lansing, Mich.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The body has been cremated; there will be no viewing. Private burial of cremains will be held in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to MOHM's Place Building Fund.
