Teofanes R. Ruiz

Teofanes R. Ruiz, 75, of Council Bluffs died April 2 at Bergan Mercy Hospital.

He was born in Michoacan, Mexico. He previously lived in Chicago, moving to Council Bluffs 22 years ago. He was a laborer in construction companies. He retired in 1979 after more than 40 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Ruiz and his wife, Angelina H. (Mendez), were married June 9, 1973. He was preceded in death by his son, Jose, in infancy.

Survivors in addition to his wife include stepdaughters, Carmen Morales, Frances Saenz, Lupe Montanez, Rita Morales and Christina Jones, all of Council Bluffs, and Monica Renteria of Omaha; 10 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Anita Ruiz, of Mexico; nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be Friday at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ben Kenkel officiating at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Family visitation will follow until 8 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Fredrick Reischl officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
