Everett Mabbitt

Services for Everett "Bud" Mabbitt, 81, of Council Bluffs will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert O. Boseck officiating.

Mr. Mabbitt died March 28 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

He was born in Council Bluffs. He was railroad switchman and a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 737.

Mr. Mabbitt was preceded in death by his wives, Donna and Marjorie, and a grandson, Michael Dale.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorthey Allen-Mabbitt, of Council Bluffs; three sons, Clarence Brockey and wife, Margarett, of Council Bluffs, Dale Mabbitt and wife, Barbara, of Beebeetown and Michael Mabbitt and wife, Wanda, of Hadley, N.Y.; two brothers, Glen Mabbitt and wife, Jane, of Council Bluffs and Warren Mabbitt and wife, Doris, of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garner Township Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2. Memorials may be offered to the family.
