Berneice A. Lary

Funeral for Berneice A. Lary, 78, of Council Bluffs will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Hollars officiating.

Mrs. Lary died March 30 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

Mrs. Lary was born Feb. 4, 1925, to Harold Grate and Anna Kline. She previously lived in the rural Crescent area, moving to Council Bluffs in 1987. She graduated from South High School in Omaha. She previously worked for Pendleton Mills and Indian Hills Nursing Center. She also was a homemaker.

Mrs. Lary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, on Aug. 7, 2001. They were married 59 years. She also was preceded in death by her grandson, Clinton D. Lary.

Survivors include daughter, Sheryl Lary, of Council Bluffs; son, Richard and wife, Jessie, of Desoto, Mo.; two sisters, Vivian Jackson of Oblong, Ill., and Anna Mae Grate of Denver; two brothers, Harlan Grate and wife, Mavis, of Omaha and John Grate and wife, Dorothy, of Warsaw, Mo.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grange Cemetery in Honey Creek.
