In Memory: Malvern J. Reid

Funeral for Malvern John Reid, 84, of Harlan was held Tuesday at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Harlan with the Rev. Jack McClure officiating.

Mr. Reid died Nov. 3 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Willey. He attended school in Westphalia and Rabbitt Hollow Township. He was a World War II Veteran. He was owner/operator of the Reid Bus Line and Reid Body shop for 13 years. He had been retired for 22 years. He was a member 11 Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

Mr. Reid and his wife, Dorothy, were married 60 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include four daughters, Sheryl Reid of Ankeny, Sandra Kleinpaste and husband, Bob, of Baltimore, Connie Blum of Houston and Debra Schleis arid husband, Michael, of Harlan; three sons, Robert and wife, Judy, of Torrance, California, Malvern II and wife, Vicky, of Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, and Steven and wife Susan of Harlan; one sister, Yvonne Whannell and husband, Don of Council Bluffs; one brother, Frank, of Mahnumen, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Rosary service was held at Pauley Funeral Home in Harlan. Burial was in Harlan Cemetery.
