In Memory: Mildred Nelson

Funeral services for Mildred A. Nelson, 89, of Elmcrest Retirement Community in Harlan, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Knutson Chapel in Avoca with Orris Drake officiating.

Mrs. Nelson died November 1 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan. She was a former resident of Shelby.

She graduated from Minden High School in 1930 and received nurses training at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She was a homemaker.

She and her husband, John, were married for 52 years. They were the parents of two children, Ivan and Lila.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband John, her son Ivan, seven brothers and sisters: Claudius, Ralph and Gifford Schnepel, Linda Danker, Grace Siebelsand Vera Schroder.

She is survived by her daughter Lila and her husband Ronald Davis of Harlan, her daughter-in-law Sharon Nelson of Shelby, 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister Alpha Haas and her husband Kenneth of Audubon.

Burial was at the Shelby Cemetery.
