In Memory: Sandra L. Messinger

Sandra L. Messinger, 62, of Avoca died November 1 at her residence.

She was born in Freeport, Illinois, and graduated from high school in Orangeville, Illinois, in 1967. She lived in Illinois and Kansas before moving to Avoca, where she became owner and operator of Olson Cleaners in 1978, a position she held until her retirement in 1999.

She was a member of the United Church of Avoca.

Mrs. Messinger and husband, Kenneth, had been married for 44 years.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father, her stepfather, Lyle Meyers and brother, James Rodebuagh.

Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Peggy Hobus, and husband Roger of Avoca; two sons, Mike and wife Marcia of Avoca and Kris and wife Cathy of Oakland; her mother, Elizabeth Meyers, of Freeport; a sister, Sherrill Schramm, and husband Charles of Aurora, Illinois; two brothers, Mark Rodebaugh and wife Pat of Orangeville and Steven Rodebaugh and wife Nancy of McConnell, Illinois; three stepsisters, Midge Engelkens and husband Don of Orangeville, Pat Meyers of Rockford, Illinois, and Linda Christianson and husband Gil of Monroe, Illinois; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday evening at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.

Funeral was held Monday at the United Church of Avoca with Orris Drake officiating.

Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca.
