Maurine M. McManamy, age 93, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 28, 2009 at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley.

She was born March 6, 1916 in Neola, Iowa to the late John and Rachel (Shea) Fitzsimmons.

She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1934 and from U.N.O. in 1972.

On June 26, 1937, Maurine married C.W. McManamy. To this union four children were born, Karen, Kathleen, Kristie and Kirk.

Maurine was a rural school teacher for 6 years and taught at Iowa School for the Deaf for 34 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church; St. Ann’s Altar and Rosary Society; Professional Home Economics Teachers Association; Alpha Master Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; past-president of Women’s Farm Bureau; former volunteer at Mercy Hospital, Council Bluffs Public Library and Hoover Elementary School.

Maurine was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, C.W. “Mac” McManamy in 1999; daughter, Karen Larsen in 2004; son, Kirk McManamy in 2006; sisters, Linnus Cox, Margaret Sigler and Eleanor
Olsen.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Dan) Wolford of Council Bluffs, Kristie (Leo) Hatcher of Leander, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Art Larsen of Underwood, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

Wake service, Wednesday, 6 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church. Rev.
Chuck Kottas, Pastor will be the celebrant.

Interment St.Columbanus Cemetery, Weston, Iowa with a lunch following in St. Peter’s Social Hall.
