Geraldine Hope Bates, age 87, of Risen Son Christian Village, passed away November 20, 2009 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

Geri (Hope) was born June 9, 1922 in Summersville, Missouri to the late David and
Lona Kilts.

Geri (Hope) was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Carlson; son, Joel Carlson; son-in-law, Larry Peterson; granddaughter,
Debbie Peterson; brothers, Clinton and Orville Kilts; and sister, Jean Vodnik.

Survived by her husband of 46 years, Morris W. Bates; daughters, Linda Peterson, of Council Bluffs, and Cynthia Green (Jerry), of Minden,
Iowa; daughter-in-law, Karen Carlson, of Omaha; 11 grand-children and 22 great grand-children; sisters, Maxine Loynachan, of Chariton, Iowa, and Carole Denny, of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mildred Carlson, of Neola, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday November 23, at Cutler-O’Neill Funeral Home. Chaplain John Hanson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Burial will be at the Neola Township Cemetery, Neola, Iowa. Memorials to the family.
