In Memory: Marjorie Merkert

Funeral for Marjorie L. Merkert, 79, of Council Bluffs was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Minden United Church of Christ with the Rev. Denny Peterson officiating.

Mrs. Merkert died July 29 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She was born in Neola and lived in Minden before she moved to Council Bluff's in 1972. She graduated from Neola public school and from beauty school.

She was a spice room worker at Blue Star Foods. She was a member of the Minden American Legion Auxiliary and the Women's Fellowship at the Minden United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Merkert and her husband, Elden, were married 58 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include six daughters, Angela Merkert of Oak Park, Illinois, Joyce Olson and husband, Dean, and Sandra Konz and husband, Jerry, all of Minden, Donna Teachman and husband, Brad, of Kansas City, Missouri, Shirley Boos and husband, Dan, of Persia and Sherry Cimburek and husband, Jay, of Grimes; a sister, Hazel Petrocco, of Pueblo, Colorado; a brother, James Felton, of Neola; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening at Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to the Minden United Church of Christ or the Iowa Special Olympics.
