In Memory: Howard L. Hutzell

Funeral for Howard L. Hutzell, 82, of Pisgah was held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran
Church in Moorhead with the Rev. Carla Ingebretsen officiating.

Mr. Hutzell died July 28 at his home.

He was born January 26, 1919, in Victor to James and Glee (Nichols) Hutzell. He grew up in
the Mason City area and graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1937. He served in the U.S.
Army during World War II from May 1941 until December 1945. He and his wife farmed in the Mason
City area for a year and in the Avoca area for 18 years.

They lived in the Neola area for four years and moved to Allen Township in 1970. They moved to
Pisgah in August 1994. Mr. Hutzell worked for ASCS surveying land for 15 years. He was a 4-H
leader in Avoca for 15 years and was a Farm Bureau member.

Mr. Hutzell and his wife, Marlys (Brower), were married January 17, 1947.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Carol Powles, and husband, Roger, of Malvern; five sons, Gary and wife, Connie, of Oklahoma City,. Raymond and wife, Donna, of Bellevue, Nebraska, Dale and wife, Laurie, of Avoca, Allen of Milwaukee and Neal of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Jean Morris of Clear Lake and Virginia Calvert of Salinas, California; two brothers, Robert and wife, Georgia, of Portland, Oregon, and Richard; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Burial was in Graceland
Cemetery at Avoca.
